Please join us for a tour of SGH's Applied Science & Research Center!

Tour Description:

Following April’s presentation by Norman Perkins, Director of the Applied Science & Research at SGH, this tour offers an in-person look at the space and capabilities discussed. Visitors will explore SGH’s approximately 13,500-square-foot Applied Science & Research (AS&R) Center and see firsthand how engineering questions are investigated through testing and analysis.

The AS&R Center provides the tools and expertise to answer complex questions such as material identification, design performance, and causes of failure. The tour will highlight key lab capabilities, including mechanical testing, material identification and characterization, and environmental testing.

Through select project examples spanning new design, repair and rehabilitation, and forensic investigation, attendees will gain insight into how applied science informs engineering decisions and improves performance in the built environment. Photos below taken from the SGH website.

Event Details:

Please arrive on time, as the tour will start promptly at 4:00pm. Note that we will be accessing material testing labs for tours, therefore please dress accordingly, wear closed-toed shoes, and PPE will be provided as needed. Parking (see map below) is available at 500 Totten Pond Road (same complex as SGH). Guests are asked to enter the SGH office on the first floor and sign in. At the conclusion of the tour, a social hour with drinks and appetizers will be held in the SGH lobby. SENH will grant attendees 1.0 PDH for attendance at this event. An attendance list will be sent out after the event, which will serve as your record of receiving 1.0 PDH.
